” Divine”

he worshiped at the altar of her beauty

mesmerized like a deprived man

solemnly compliant in the observance of her.

as he prayed on his hands and knees

he wanted nothing more than a glimpse

nothing more than a whisper from her soft lips

nothing less than her body and soul.

she owned his heart

yet, had no clue

“Darling you are my God and I your servant

you are my sun and I your earth.”

It amazed him

It amazed him how she bloomed in the cover of the world’s darkness

unaffected and unscathed by the worlds filthy hands of treachery.

he wanted to be more to her than what the sun was to a growing flower

more than the air to drowning lungs

more than the stars to the moon

and the moon to the universe.

he wanted to be her light in utter darkness

like she was to him.

he watched from afar as a man devoted

accepting self-deprivation and anguish all for just the ability to pray in her temple because

“anything less than full devotion was merely sacrilege”.

quite a pious man

devoted to his Goddess

even after his blood ran dry and soul vanished.

he lived his life feening for the blessings of her touch and silk-like words unaware of what was really happening

all this time he was blinded by his own needs and lack of selfe steem

that he missed his one chance at heaven.

he gave his life to his religion

he gave his soul to his goddess

he was so blinded by his faith that he didn’t see

that she was the one praying for him.
