i saw myself fight fire with fire
hurting through what felt like an eternity
but It has only been a century,
i tried to make your thirst for water into wine
but was left with nothing but imminent misery.
i would give it all away,
my avenue of golden dreams
my song of brief affairs
all to be left with no words,
if walking hand in hand with the day causes
my portal of involuntary movements
to light up the world like the burning sun
like the earth’s final revolution
then i would.
so i did.
i was left dreaming in the dead
the dead of night
six feet under the sky
as the cold rain drove against me,
i look up searching for the headlights of the moon
then I remember that I gave it all up.
until a different moon, that was all that was left,
a tainted heart searching.
