Therefore, I was free

I had been so preoccupied building walls to insulate myself that I

hadn’t taken the time to know myself.

So I picked myself up off my ass and started sitting.

…and so I sat.

As I sat I decided to come to terms with my fears

I decided to unravel and unwrap the layers that construct me.

I sat and I began to relive those moments that I knew haunted,

yet molded me.

Purging the negative, consuming the positive

releasing the dark, inhaling the light.

With every breath I took,

with every expansion of my lungs

I destroyed the walls that I’ve constructed since before I was aware of them.

With each breath a wall was knocked down,

as I sat they shattered and crumbled,

as I sat I fought

and therefore, I was free.

I read a few of your poems this morning. I really want to write something. To comment. But my words are paralyzed. My words alone are not enough. I need a symphony, the icy top of a mountain, and the stars spiraling behind me…and maybe…I could build an impression to express how I feel.
